Kimmel put on a parody of the White House Correspondents' Dinner days before the event. Over the weekend, a gunman attacked the event before being arrested. In light of that event, viewers are taking a look back at Kimmel's sketch. And one joke aged like sour milk.

"Our First Lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow," Kimmel said during the parody. "You know, Melania's birthday in on Sunday. She's planning to celebrate at home the same way she always does, looking out a window and whispering, 'What have I done?'"

The parody came days before the shooting. But calling someone a future widow drew plenty of attention with viewers calling it dangerous and in poor taste. Larry O'Connor, editor of the conservative outlet Townhall, called out Kimmel for the joke. He called him a "broken man."

Another described the skit as "sick and tasteless."

Jimmy Kimmel Under Fire

Political commentator, Link Lauren, wrote, "Many in the mainstream media have stoked division and hatred for years. Jimmy Kimmel just made a disgusting "joke" about Melania Trump becoming a widow."

Lauren continued, "After the White House Correspondents' Dinner and what transpired with President Trump, now they suddenly want to act shocked."

Kimmel was previously pulled for comments he made in the wake of Charlie Kirk's death before his show was reinstated. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump addressed why he keeps being targeted by gunmen.

"I must tell you the most impactful people, the people that do the most, you take a look at the people - Abraham Lincoln - I mean, you go through the people that have gone through this where they got 'em, but the people that do the most and the people that make the biggest impact are the ones that they go after," he said.

He also added, "Just take a look at the names here. The big names, and I hate to say I'm honored by that, but I've done a lot. We've done a lot."
