Weddings can have all types of themes, depending on the taste and budget of the couple. One pair of fanciful lovebirds, Sabrina Harb and Kurt Brossman, went all-out for Marie Antoinette-style nuptials in Oceanside, California, on March 18. One show-stopping detail that must have made their day, per People, was a guillotine that was used to cut their red velvet wedding cake! In case you may have forgotten your high school history class, Marie Antoinette was reportedly executed with a guillotine in the City of Light in 1793.

Harb Had a Reminder of the Doomed French Queen in Her Childhood Home
Per the outlet, there was a bust of Marie Antoinette in Harb's childhood home. It must have ignited her imagination. In fact, it seems as though the French-inspired theme of their big bash was mostly thanks to Harb's clever brainstorming.
She shared, "[Kurt] was okay with the theme; he doesn't really care. He's used to my creative psychosis, if you will. We were going over the wedding budget, and he was like, 'Hey, do you think we really need a guillotine? Like, is that really necessary?' And I was like, 'Yes, don't ask me that question. That's a silly question.'"
Back to the guillotine. The luscious red velvet confection was the work of Susara Vermaak of The Cake Atelier. However, the blade contraption needed some doing to obtain.
She Was in Luck
Harb is the force behind a company called Moody Solace, which specializes in "sharing themed and affordable ways to host," according to Instagram. A coworker, Neil Karstetter, thought of an ingenious solution.
Harb clarified, "[He] builds all of our sets, and I was like, 'Hey, do you think you can build me a guillotine?' He's like, 'Whoa, I've never made one of those, but let's figure it out.'"
The Bride Added Some Sweet Touches
When she got her "guillotine," Harb decided to incorporate a few cute details to make it more, well, festive, shall we say? Per the outlet, she put bows and sparkles on it. Just right for a wedding! The TikTok video she posted of it was also a huge smash hit. Per People, it "rapidly amassed about 5 million views and 750,000 likes."
Harb was jubilant about the outcome. She rhapsodized to the outlet, "It's also cool that our wedding gained so much traction. Like, I don't think all people can say that. It just feels very special to share that moment with so many cool people. I've met some cool online friends from it and more traction to my events page. This just feels like an overall blessing."
