Now the Married... With Children actress has now provided an update to her concerned fans. We have the details below.
Christina Applegate Speaks Out
The 54-year-old Applegate shared in 2021 that she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. At this time, however, the cause of her most recent hospital stay remains undisclosed.
According to the Mayo Clinic, multiple sclerosis causes the protective covering of nerves to break down, often leading to numbness, weakness, trouble walking, and vision changes. The disease can eventually cause lasting nerve damage.
She did take to social media to give fans an update on her health. She shared an image of a white coffee mug with the words "Kissy, Kissy" and a couple of red kisses. It was set on top of a copy of her memoir, You With the Sad Eyes.
The caption reads, "Thank you for the outpouring of love and well wishes. Health issues are a constant for me, but I'm a strong chick and I'm getting stronger and better every day. I'm taking a moment to focus on my health, but I'll be back with more to say soon enough."
The Actress Has Been Sharing Her Journey
hrWhen asked about the reason for her recent hospital stay, a representative for Applegate said she had "no comment."
They added, "She's had a long history of complicated medical conditions that she has been refreshingly open about, as evidenced in her memoir and on her podcast."
The actress hasn't been afraid to open up about some of the struggles that have come with her MS symptoms. She recently shared that it is sometimes difficult to take her daughter to school.
"I want to take her; it's my favorite thing to do. It's the only time we have together by ourselves," shared Applegate. "I tell myself, 'Just get her there safely and get home so you can get back into bed.' And that's what I do."
Applegate also created the online community Next in MS, offering a supportive and safe space for herself and others affected by the disease to connect, share, and encourage one another.
