Dr. Sandra Lee, better known as Dr. Pimple Popper, has opened up about a health episode. As reported by People, she experienced a stroke whilst filming an episode of her reality show Dr Pimple Popper: Breaking Out.
She revealed that she thought she was having a hot flash whilst she was filming her show. The incident happened November 20 of last year. She said she "got super sweaty" and didn't feel like herself. But, as doctors are trained to do, she soldiered on and got through the day.
When she got home, however, the trouble kept continuing."I just felt very restless, in one leg I kept feeling shooting pains" Dr. Pimple Popper recalled. After trying for hours to fall asleep, she decided to go and get something to eat. But, she was "having a tough time walking down the stairs."
And, by morning, things had worsened considerably. "I would hold my hand out, and it would just slowly collapse. I noticed that I had a tough time articulating and just enunciating, I thought, 'Am I having a stroke?'"
And, she had. A visit to the emergency room revealed that she had suffered an ischemic stroke. This type of stroke is where the blood vessels to the brain are blocked, leading to deprivation of oxygen.

The Stroke Has Left Dr. Pimple Popper With Lasting Effects
She said that even now, she's still feeling the effects of the stroke. When she sat down for the interview with the outlet, she explained her speech feels different.
"I notice it right now that I don't speak exactly the way I used to... You're really embarrassed to speak because you notice it." By it, she means the slight hesitancy and slurring of speech that first appeared during the stroke. That's something that's lasted with her ever since.
She also revealed she wasn't living the healthiest life prior to her stroke. Dr. Pimple Popper's blood pressure and cholesterol was pretty high. She said it was because she has "a lot of stress" in her life.
But, she's called the whole ordeal a "blessing in disguise" as it's reminded her to take better care of herself. In any case, we hope she recovers fully soon!
