What Happened to the "My 600-Lb. Life" Star?

Martinez reportedly struggled with health issues for some time.

On March 29, the My 600-Lb. Life star was hospitalized due to fluid in her heart and lungs. She was subsequently placed in a medically induced coma and put on a ventilator. She never recovered.

Martinez was 30 when she died at Fort Worth Hospital in Texas. Her sister then announced the news on Facebook on April 11.

"It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of my beautiful sister, Dolly," she wrote. "Dolly had the brightest personality she could light up any room with her laughter, her kindness, and her loving spirit. She had a way of making everyone feel special, and her warmth will stay with us forever."

She continued, "While our hearts are broken here, I find comfort in knowing she is now reunited with our dad in heaven. I can only imagine the joy of that reunion. Rest peacefully, Dolly. You will always be loved, always be missed, and never forgotten."

In another post, her sister had another message about her sister's time on My 600-Lb. Life.

"I know many people knew her from a show or TikTok, and that's okay but please remember, there's so much more to her than what was seen online or on TV," she wrote. "She was my sister first. She deserves peace, and she deserves kindness."

Who Is Dolly Martinez?

Martinez appeared on season ten of My 600-Lb. Life. She had previously experienced congestive heart failure due to her weight.

During her time on the show, she talked about the connection between food and her mental health.

"The only thing powerful enough to distract me from darker thoughts is food," she said on the show. "Food is my go-to drug that takes my pain away... Food is more than just a pleasure. It's my reason for existing."

Martinez moved from Fort Worth, Texas, to Houston to be closer to the show's bariatric surgeon. While she lost nearly 40 lbs., she was not approved for weight loss surgery during her time on My 600-Lb. Life.
