Even singers forget lyrics sometimes. That's especially true if they're dueting on a song that isn't theirs. During a recent episode of the "This Past Weekend With Theo Von" podcast, Ella Langley recalled struggling to remember the words when dueting with Morgan Wallen while they were singing on stage together.

"I did 'What I Want' with Morgan, I mess up words almost every single time," Ella said during the podcast. "I've never been so nervous to go out and do something. I just felt like I could throw up before I walked out of there every time. I was like, 'I just cannot; I could not remember those words.'"
Ella then joked that the last time she and Morgan shared the stage, it was actually he who wound up messing up the words.
"What was awesome is the last time we did it, he came out and messed up the words," Ella recalled. "When he did that, I just started to laugh so hard because he was giving me so much shit about messing up the words. He was just like, 'You can't come out here and mess this up again.' I was like, I might. I really am scared that I might. So the last night he did, and it was like, he just immediately could never say another thing to me about most of the words, you know. So that was nice of him, if he did that on purpose."
Ronnie Dunn Recalls Messing up Lyrics With Morgan Wallen
It turns out that Ella Langley isn't the only person to mess up lyrics when dueting with Morgan Wallen. When part of Ella's podcast appearance with Theo Von was posted to the "CountryMusicTunes" Instagram page, Ronnie Dunn commented, admitting that he also had a similar issue. Therefore, Ronnie decided to write the lyrics down on paper.
He's now dubbed that moment "Paper Gate."
"'Paper Gate'...I couldn't remember the words to Whiskey Glasses last year, so I wrote 'em on a small card, then at the end of the song threw it out to the audience as a souvenir," Ronnie commented. "Next thing ya know, someone is making it look like an act of disrespect....not my intent at all. Looking forward to going back out with him starting at ALLEGIANT STADIUM / Vegas May 1. Ronnie Dunn / Brooks & Dunn."
It's hard to imagine anyone forgetting words to some of Morgan's biggest hits. However, when we're singing along, it's usually in the car, at a bar, or with friends, not in front of nearly 100,000 screaming fans. In that sense, maybe it is a little understandable.
