Utah Woman Left in Coma After Falling Out of Moving Pickup Truck: "Extremely Critical Condition"

The 20-year-old was helping her family transport items to her neighbor's when the tragic accident happened. A family friend has set up a GoFundMe.

A 20-year-old Utah woman has been left in a coma after falling off a pickup truck on Sunday, April 5. According to People, she was helping her family drop some items off at her neighbor's house.

Erin Plumb was sitting in the tailgate of the moving pickup truck when the accident happened. She tragically suffered "significant" injuries according to Tooele City Police. This has lead to her being placed into a coma.

Plumb's mother, Heather, said in an interview that doctors had to remove the right and left top of her skull whilst she is in a coma. This is because her brain was swelling, and it needed "someplace to go".

But, it seems like she is recovering, slowly but surely. Heather added that "She is now responding to some pain stimulus". As well as this, she's also reaching "all of the numbers" that the doctors wanted her to reach. This is great news, especially in the severe condition that she is in with her coma.

A GoFundMe has been set up for Plumb by a family friend, Sena Spencer. The GoFundMe will help cover Erin's hospital bills as she recovers.

The GoFundMe emphasises the severity of her condition, saying she is in "extremely critical condition". However, an update posted by Spencer shows that things may be looking up for her.

Doctors had managed to hook her up to a feeding tube as of April 8. She added that "she keeps exceeding our expectations, she is fighting so hard, so we will too." She added that she expects Plumb will stay in the coma until some point next week.

Spencer also acknowledged the "incredibly difficult road ahead" for Plumb, and how everyone is "hoping for miracles, and holding onto faith that Erin will recover and be able to come home."

As of April 12, the fundraiser has raised over $14,500 for her medical bills. Contributors have sent their prayers in their donation messages.

We hope that Erin Plumb pulls through. What a tragic incident.
