We all know that country singers are the resilient type. Just listen to their music—they're always singing ballads about the things they've gone through. But it looks like one country singer has the opportunity to make one of the more unique country songs about pain and hurt.
Eric Church wrapped up his Free the Machine tour on Friday, April 10. He was sporting his typical gear—donning his iconic jet-black sunglasses. But, alongside it, he was wearing a very chunky left boot. It turns out that he'd somehow gone and broken his foot just 48 hours before he showed up to Jacksonville, Florida to play.
He joked to the crowd that he'd "made it 44 tour dates unscathed." The way he broke his foot is pretty embarrassing, too, so maybe no country song, but he did joke about it with his fans. "I jumped out of bed, forgot about a suitcase at the end of the bed. I kicked the s*** out of that suitcase... And I broke my left foot."

Eric Church Performed the Whole Show Despite His Broken Foot
But no broken bones can stop Eric Church. He said it best himself: "What I lack in mobility, I'm gonna make up in passion." And make it up he did! He performed his full two-and-a-half-hour show. He started the performance by performing his album Evangeline vs. The Machine from start to finish—the whole point of his Free The Machine tour.
Of course, he also had to poke fun at himself. According to Whiskey Riff, Church's youngest son told him he just had to play his hit song "These Boots". Pretty funny, right? He even changed some of the lyrics to suit his predicament.
Eric Church sang, "These boots have had to dance with the devil / And nearly had to kick that suitcase, across the road!" A pretty funny quip, admittedly.
Church's Free the Machine tour has been a pretty big deal. Every single one of the performances has featured a full choir and orchestra on stage. And, true to the title, he certainly freed the machine—played the whole Evangeline vs. The Machine album from front to back.
