It seems that Kacey Musgraves didn't see any UFOs after all. At least, that's what some sections of the internet are saying.
According to multiple space enthusiasts across the web, Musgraves' recent encounter with three glowing orbs during a flight from Texas to Tennessee was likely nothing more than some Starlink satellites.
"The @KaceyMusgraves UFO sighting video has been identified by @flarkey as being 100% consistent with Starlink horizon flares,"
If this is true, Musgraves wouldn't be the first person to have thought 'aliens' when seeing these flying orbs. In fact, All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), a government office investigating UFOs, has previously written about Starlink satellites.
"With the advent of satellite communication mega-constellations ... there are currently thousands of artificial satellites in Low Earth Orbit and tens of thousands more planned for launch over the next decade. Satellite flaring is an optical phenomenon which occurs when sunlight reflects off a satellite's surfaces, such as antennas or solar panels."
Okay, the explanation appears to be sound. But let's be honest, it's far less fun!
What Did Kacey Musgraves Say About Her UFO Sighting?
Musgraves initially posted about her UFO sighting on Instagram, sharing a video to her stories.
"We just watched these orbs, there were three of them," she said. "... I was about to lay down and take a nap and I saw these lights that caught my eye that just didn't look normal. And I watched them for a minute and they were definitely trailing each other. These orbs were not moving like any craft that we can control. They were intermittently coming and going, forming triangle patterns. They were kind of an orangish color."
In all honesty, when you're flying and you suddenly see some orange lights above you, your mind is going to go to some strange places. Fortunately, satellites do make more sense than an impending contact with aliens, and that should help us all sleep easier at night.
