Jelly Roll Takes Beating in Latest Episode of WWE Smackdown

Jelly Roll got his first proper taste of a WWE-style beatdown on the April 10 edition of SmackDown at the hands of Randy Orton and Pat McAfee.

Jelly Roll has become a firm part of WWE's build-up to WrestleMania. The "Save Me" singer looks set for a match at WWE's flagship Premium Live Event. However, details of who he could potentially face remain murky.

What we do know is that Jelly Roll got his first proper taste of a WWE-style beatdown on the April 10 edition of SmackDown.

After a 17-minute promo that saw Pat McAfee call out CM Punk before going toe-to-toe with Rhodes in a verbal back-and-forth, things heated up. Unfortunately for Jelly Roll, he spent most of that promo getting beaten up in the back by Orton.

"The Viper" then dragged Jelly Roll down toward the ring, where McAfee and Rhodes were waiting. Of course, this led to Rhodes taking a beating of his own. The whole situation is a key part of the build toward his match against Orton at WrestleMania.

Jelly Roll's involvement in this storyline has drawn some criticism. As his original build was toward a beef with Kit Wilson, whom he recently defeated, and The Miz. So, placing him into the Orton/Rhodes beef is somewhat peculiar. After all, it's unlikely that he will be involved in the final matchup between the two titans later this month.

Jelly Roll Could Have a Position in WWE Beyond WrestleMania

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Jelly Roll's current role in the Rhodes/Orton feud could lead to a match at WWE Backlash. Therefore, the country superstar could find himself becoming a part-time member of the roster. Well, at least for the next month or two.

"The Wrestling Observer Newsletter indicates that WWE currently has plans for McAfee to team with Orton at Backlash in a tag bout against Rhodes and award-winning singer Jelly Roll," Wrestling Inc noted.

WWE Backlash is scheduled for May 9 in Florida. If Jelly Roll does take part in that Premium Live Event, it will be his third major event with the WWE in the past year, with his first-ever match coming at SummerSlam 2025.

At some point, you've got to wonder where he's getting the time to work on new music. Although that's a good problem for him to have. After all, who wouldn't want to be playing a part in WrestleMania and one of the WWE's biggest stories of the year?
