Nick Pope has died at the age of 60.

The UFO expert revealed his Stage 4 esophageal cancer diagnosis several weeks ago. It had spread down to his liver. In a message to fans on Feb. 12, he shared that he 'can't beat it."
His wife, Elizabeth Weiss, confirmed his death in a Facebook post dated April 6.
"My heart is breaking — Nick passed away this afternoon at our home," she wrote. "The last few weeks of his life, even as he suffered, he managed to do a few interviews from home. I was so lucky to have met and to have married Nick. He was a wonderful husband. I loved him dearly."
Who Is Nick Pope?
Pope was a former official at the U.K. Ministry of Defence. In his 21 years with the agency, he worked on items related to defense policy, counter-terrorism, and, most famously, UFOs.
It's the latter that led him to become a frequent contributor on the History Channel show Ancient Aliens, one of the cable station's longest-running shows. The program explored how aliens may have influenced human history.
Following his passing, the documentary show paid tribute to Pope on Facebook.
"We are saddened by the passing of Nick Pope who was a beloved member of the Ancient Aliens family," the message read. "He challenged us to look beyond what we know and question what may be possible. He will be deeply missed."
Fans Wondered if Pope Knew More About UFOs Than He Let On
Even in his final years, Pope continued his work. He often moderated Ancient Aliens Live events and also frequently appeared at conferences. Fans appreciated his expert opinions on UFOs and other topics the show tackled.
One fan wrote, "Always felt like he knew more than he was allowed to mention. He will be missed by many."
But it was his marriage to Weiss that he was most proud of. The couple celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary in February.
In his final message to fans, he wrote, "It's all been amazing, and I'm grateful for the things I've done, not mournful for the things that I won't now get to do."
