Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster have been together for 26 years and married for 18 years. Those are hardly rookie numbers, and Lancaster thinks she deserves a medal.

Speaking with Best Magazine, Lancaster pulled back the curtain on her relationship with Stewart. She discussed their long relationship together. As with most or at least many marriages, Lancaster couldn't help but make a couple of jokes as well. She jokingly suggested that she deserved a medal for putting up with Rod Stewart and his antics for so long.
"Yes, 26 years! I deserve a medal, don't I?" she told the publication, per the Daily Mail. "Only joking."
The two first met in 1999. At the time, Lancaster was attending Barking College. But they wouldn't get married until 2007. The two also had two sons together with Stewart having children previous to his relationship with Lancaster.
Rod Stewart and Wife
Despite everything and with being in the limelight, Stewart and Lancaster are still going strong. She explained how they try to keep the intimacy alive with each other.
"We don't take each other for granted and make sure we have date nights together ... dinner, the theatre or whatever, doing the school run together and having an 'a deux' coffee on the way home, long romantic walks together," she said. "We flirt with each other and make each other laugh."
That also includes spoiling each other and celebrating those big milestones in style.
"We're big on celebrating our anniversaries and really spoil each other," she said. "For instance, for our last wedding anniversary, we took a very romantic train trip from Paris to Portofino because Rod proposed to me in Paris and we got married in Portofino. We love reminiscing about our life together and also making plans for the future — more romantic trips."
They're great when they're together, but Lancaster admits she also needs her alone time away from Rod Stewart as well.
