Not many mothers get to have someone do play-by-play commentary during childbirth. But for one woman watching an NHL game on Saturday, April 4, the news of her child's birth was shared on the television broadcast.

The woman went into labor at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, just as the Oilers battled with the Las Vegas Golden Knights.
NHL Sportscaster Jack Michaels Shared the News
Fans watching the game on television heard the news from NHL play-by-play sportscaster Jack Michaels.
"Breaking news: We have word that someone has gone into labor here tonight," Michaels shared. "There's a baby being born on the seventh floor at Rogers Place as we speak."
He added, "So someone's going to have a great story to tell. It would be nice to have the mother join us on After Hours to describe what's happened, but that could be asking a bit much."
Despite Michaels' on-air announcement, details about the birth remained scant. The mother's identity is unknown, and she did not join Michaels for the post-game show.
It is not known if the mother had assistance during childbirth or if anyone accompanied her to the NHL game.
The Entire Game Was a Little Wild
The headline of this particular NHL game was obviously the arrival of the Oilers' youngest fan. However, there were plenty of other odd occurrences during the three periods of this hockey matchup.
Before the Golden Knights' 5-1 victory became final, players from both teams removed their gloves to battle things out on the ice. Strong words were shared between the stickmen long after the clock ran out.
Earlier in the matchup, a fan's face became bloodied after a puck hit him in the face.
Looking ahead, while the Oilers have not officially clinched a spot in the upcoming NHL playoffs, they are expected to before the season ends on April 16. Hopefully, the mother and her new arrival will see their team battle for the Stanley Cup.
