Former four-time WWE world champion Alberto Del Rio has been arrested in Mexico on allegations of domestic violence. And, as reported by the New York Post, this isn't the first time he's been arrested for alleged crimes.
The WWE star's wife apparently called 911 and said that he had beaten her. When the Civil Guard showed up at the scene, she had injuries on her face and arms. This led to Del Rio's arrest. Mexico is quite strict when it comes to domestic violence, carrying a maximum sentence of seven years.
However, according to Mexican outlet La Afición, the WWE star might also be charged for gender-based hate crimes, which carry a much more severe sentence attached to them. If he is found guilty of this crime, he might be put behind bars for up to 20 years.
Del Rio, who was still recently fighting under the name Alberto El Patrón, was previously a four-time WWE champion. He is also known for being the first ever winner of a Royal Rumble and the Money in the Bank ladder match in 2011. While he left WWE in 2011, he is still active in Mexican fighting scenes.

This Isn't the First Time the WWE Star Has Been Arrested
But this isn't the first time he has been arrested for these sorts of crimes. In 2021, he was charged with sexual assault and kidnapping.
According to Old Man Trench, he was accused of sexually and physically assaulting his girlfriend after kidnapping her and taking her to his home. He allegedly tortured her for hours. But, after several rounds of the trial being rescheduled, it was cancelled after the victim apparently went missing.
Prior to this, the victim issued a statement on social media entitled "An apology to the Rodriguez del Rio family for the damages caused by my mistake." But, some seem to think that this could have been coerced.
Because of this incident, the outlet said that WWE sources claimed they'd never want to work with Del Rio again. In any case, we hope that the proper legal proceedings lead to justice being served.
