Talk about a bit of a bad break. A New York woman says that insurance refused to pay after she chipped her tooth on a tortilla chip. Not that she apparently wants the tooth fixed anyway.

Jessica B broke her teeth while enjoying some chips and guacamole in New York City. The incident was immediate and apparent and caused a literal spit take.
"I spit my food out into a napkin, got up to look in the mirror, and immediately started laughing," Jessica told PEOPLE. But believe it or not, it's not the first time that she's chipped the same tooth. Turns out she's had a bit of bad luck when it comes to her tooth. It's the "fourth time I chipped this tooth."
"The first time happened in third grade when I fell face-first into the gymnasium floor, broke my two front teeth and my nose," Jessica said.
She did get it fixed the other times. Perhaps that's why insurance was unwilling to pay for the chipped tooth. Jessica went to the dentist and filed an insurance claim, but the insurance kept denying coverage. In the ultimate plot twist, Jessica decided she liked the way her chipped tooth looked and decided to keep it.
Insurance and a Chipped Tooth
"I really didn't mind the way it looked; it didn't hurt at all, and wasn't really affecting anything," she said. "My friends said it kinda matched my overall look and people generally liked it. Insurance kept denying me anyway."
Months later, she said that she doesn't even notice the chipped tooth anymore. She did get some work done, just not on that tooth.
"I got a gold cap for my canine to help distract from the chipped tooth and together they make my smile feel more interesting," Jessica said.
Her story got a good amount of support and hate online with some questioning why she wouldn't get the weakness in the tooth fixed. "Suddenly, everyone's a dentist," she said. "Overall, it was mostly positive and I got lots of compliments, but also a good amount of hate comments, which is to be expected."
In a further twist to the story, Jessica said her insurance "finally approved crowns for my busted two front teeth, but I'm hesitant to actually get them fixed."
So there's that.
