South Carolina Kids Stumble Across Human Skull in Local Anderson County Creek

The children were playing in a creek in a park in South Carolina when they made the grim discovery. The investigation is still ongoing.

A group of South Carolina children stumbled across a human skull in a creek. As reported by People, more bones have since been unearthed at the crime scene.

The children were playing at Homeland Park in Anderson County when they made the grim discovery. The mother of the children called the Anderson County Sheriff's Office on Sunday, March 29. Her son had brought her the son.

A spokesperson for the Anderson County Sheriff's Office explained what happened. "While the caller's son was walking around a creek surrounding Lawrence Road, he came across a skull." As well as this, a local coroner has confirmed the skull was from a human.

After the discovery, another 45-50 bones have been unearthed underneath where the skull was found. Authorities have described the bones as "pretty weathered".

The skull is in good condition. While no injuries have been found to have happened in the skull, foul play is still on the cards. The bones appear to be several years old.

A local coroner told the outlet that "these remains are probably 10-plus years [old] because of the roots that were around the bones and things like that—but that's still a guess."

Authorities have said that they are still in the very early stages of their investigation. They were thorough, however, having "remained on scene for hours" to collect and document every piece of evidence systematically.
