When you go to a live baseball game, the snacks are almost as important as what's happening on the field. Every team has that one thing you can't live without during a game. Some of them have even become famous, such as a Dodger Dog or the Fenway Frank.
Now, it would appear the Colorado Rockies are looking to get in on the well-branded snack game. The Major League Baseball franchise is introducing a new two-foot-long hot dog to their menu, nicknamed the Glizilla.
You've got to hand it to them, that's a pretty cool, memorable name.
To be fair, the Rockies aren't expecting one person to consume two feet of hot dog. Instead, it's designed as a shareable snack. However, we probably shouldn't be expecting people to eat from either end at the same time, which means sharing the Glizilla could get messy.
Unfortunately for the Rockies, some sections of the fanbase don't seem all that impressed with the new addition to the menu.
"The Rockies might lose 100 games this year but at least we can eat ourselves into a food coma while watching it happen," one user commented.
"You ever want to absolutely wreck a toilet? Introducing the Glizzilla, sold now for only $38," another joked.
"I better not see anybody buying this. Second date idea: we eat the Glizzilla lady and the tramp style," another added. "How do you even eat this??" another asked. "Zero percent chance that bun survives one bite," another said in the comments.
The Colorado Rockies Struggled Last Season
It's worth noting that the Glizilla may be a marketing ploy to try to get the current attendance up. After all, the Rockies struggled last season, losing 119 games and winning just 43. They finished 5th in the NL West.
While a cool snack will certainly get the fans talking, it might not be enough to get them into the stadium. After all, there's only so many times you can watch your team lose before you decide it's cheaper and easier to see them struggle from the comfort of your own home.
