9-Year-Old is Stronger Than Some Adults: How Much She Powerlifts at the Gym

Her father has said that she just has a "different baseline" compared to other kids. She has set three US powerlifting records.

How much can you lift at the gym? Is it a big number? Even if it's not, good on you for going! But, I think there's a new show in the works - somewhere along the premise of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, but more... Can You Lift More Than a 5th Grader?

And it's a pretty big challenge, too! As reported by People, this 9-year-old is able to powerlift 180lbs. Crazy stuff, right? She went viral after accomplishing the impressive task at the Arnold Sports Festival in Ohio, on March 7. Lucy Milgrim only weighs 60lbs herself, but she was able to lift three times her body weight.

She posted a video of herself on Instagram that has now gone viral, garnering over 3.1 million likes and 60 million views. It shows her warming up to AC/DC's classic "Thunderstruck" at the gym. It's a pretty impressive routine, too - she's jogging on the spot, jumping up and down, preparing.

And then she just pulled the weight. Up and up, and then back down again. With that Herculean feat, she'd just got herself her new personal best. Really impressive stuff - I doubt I could lift 180lbs, let alone three times my body weight!

Lucy Has Been Doing This at the Gym for a While

Lucy's feats don't end there. She can squat 150lbs, and bench 85lbs at the gym. She is trained by her father, Brett Milgrim. He's super proud of her - who wouldn't be - and says that she's "always been this naturally strong kid" who has a "different baseline" compared to others.

She is a real superstar, having set three US records through the USA Powerlifting organisation. And it doesn't end there - she's even a competitive wrestler, practicing four to five times a week. This is in addition to her practicing in her family's gym once every week, too.

Lucy recalled how she first got into the gym. "My mom and dad, they were working out in the gym, and I saw them doing all this cool stuff, and I wanted to try it too."

And try it she did! What a legend!
