The exact nature of Sophie Turner's injury was not specified. In addition, per the outlet, "The pause is expected to last about two weeks and the crew is still being paid."

Turner was tapped for the plum role in September of 2025. Other performers in the series are Celia Imrie, Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Jack Bannon, Sasha Luss, August Wittgenstein, and Bill Paterson.

Turner Said She Trained Intensively

The actress shared with The Julia Cunningham Show a few months go that the part of Lara Croft is a physically demanding one necessitating intense prep. That meant "eight hours a day, five days a week" of grueling workouts and training, for example.

"I've learned I have a perpetual back problem. But I also realized that it's much easier to kind of build muscle if you've ever worked out before in your life, which I never had, so it has taken me months and months and months to get into good shape. That's what I've learned."

Turner obviously feels that the role is worth all the effort. She views the character of Lara Croft as an empowered female icon. Per the outlet, in a statement issued previously, Turner observed, "I've been a long-time fan of Tomb Raider and the character of Lara. She has always felt, for me, very emboldened in a male-dominated world. She's a fierce female role model."

Many Recall Turner From 'Game of Thrones'

Turner, 30, who is English, made her mark as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones. That HBO series aired from 2011 to 2019. It was wildly popular with audiences. She was married to singer Joe Jonas until 2024.
