A toddler has tragically died after a freak diaper change accident involving his mom's fake nail. Somehow, the 1-year-old got a hold of part of the acrylic nail and began to choke on it.

Aylin Saucedo says she noticed her son, Dante Valentín Bermudes Rumi, choking when she changed his diaper. According to Argentine news outlets Todos Noticias and Telenoche, the mom tried to remove the fake nail. But it was pushed farther back.
"We were at home and I realized he wasn't breathing," she said to Todos Noticias. "I ran outside to ask my neighbor for help, but she couldn't. Then my aunt came upstairs, and she couldn't either. So I rushed to the hospital."
Sadly, medical staff at Grand Bourg Trauma Hospital failed to revive the toddler. The mom says the entire family is devastated by their loss.
Toddler Dies Due to Fake Nail
"Today you're no longer here, and all I have left are your toys, your little moles, and all your things without you," Saucedo wrote in a social media tribute. "Mom is shattered into a thousand pieces and doesn't even have the strength to face this pain.
"I need you with me," she also added. "I miss you, I need to wake up with you, and it breaks my heart to know we won't have a morning having breakfast together, my love."
Following the death of the toddler, the San Martín authorities are investigating the situation. A medical examiner determined the fake nail caused the toddler to asphyxiate.
Meanwhile, Saucedo says that the death of the toddler has created a rift between her and her son's father. He attempted to prevent her from attending the funeral.
"They wouldn't give me any information," she told the outlet. "They wouldn't tell me when the wake was being held or where he was being buried. The father paid the funeral home to keep me from participating. He didn't want me to get any information."
But she was ultimately able to attend.
"I was able to see my son for 45 minutes because it was his father's order," she said. "He held the wake and buried him afterward."
