Top Gun and Back To The Future star James Tolkan has tragically died at the age of 94.
As reported by USA Today Entertainment, Tolkan's public appearances representative has confirmed the tragic passing. "The news is sadly true about James... James was a beloved professional who lived a good, full life."
Details have not been released about how the Back To The Future star died.
James Tolkan was born in Calumet, Michigan on June 20, 1931. He was most well known for his role as Mr. Strickland in 1985's classic Back To The Future. The strict vice principal is still beloved by the movie's cult fanbase for calling Marty McFly and his entourage "slackers".
"You've got a real attitude problem, McFly, you're a slacker. You remind me of your father when he went here. He was a slacker too," the iconic lines read. Tolkan reprised his role throughout the Back To The Future franchise, even going back into the past to play Strickland's grandfather in Back To The Future Part III.
Tolkan was also known for playing no-nonsense naval commander Stinger in Top Gun. It was a legendary role, played alongside Tom Cruise's Maverick. He also played a Pentagon official in the 1983 film WarGames.

Tributes Have Poured in for the 'Back To The Future' Legend
In response to the Back To The Future legend's passing, tributes have poured in.
Some commenters were keen to highlight Tolkan's versatility in the roles that he played. One wrote, "Even in crap like Masters of the Universe, the guy always brought it," with another writing "His performances will remain iconic."
Others also remembered working with him on a variety of projects, with one writing, "Worked with him on a shoot for a CD-ROM Top Gun game... what an absolutely lovely bloke."
But the majority of the tributes referenced his iconic Back to the Future role. One commenter wrote, "strickland called marty a slacker for 3 movies straight. now half of twitter works from bed", while another wrote, "He made every role memorable and Mr. Strickland will live on forever in our hearts."
