UFC Prez Dana White To Pay Medical Bills of Young Girl Severely Hurt in Canadian Mass Shooting

There was a deadly mass shooting at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in Canada on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. According to CBC News, "Eight people, most of them children, were killed...." One brave young girl, Maya Gebala, 12, attempted to lock the doors of the school library so the shooter could not gain entry. Unfortunately, she could not do so. She was very badly injured on that tragic day.

However, there is a generous and compassionate hero coming to Maya's aid, UFC President Dana White is kindly stepping in to pay Maya Gebala's medical expenses, per TMZ. White will reportedly be paying for Maya's treatment at a Los Angeles-area hospital. He will also take care of what it costs so her family can be with her during her recovery in America.

A GoFundMe Set up for Maya Details Her Ordeal

The GoFundMe was established by Krysta Hunt, a cousin of Maya Gebala's mom. Cia Edmonds. Hunt wrote, "I am starting this go fund me to provide relief for Cia and Maya during this devastating time. Recovery timeline is unknown. All we know is that Maya made it through transport from Tumbler Ridge to Vancouver Children's Hospital and currently in critical care."

A heartbreaking message followed from Cia Edmonds. Her maternal anguish is palpable as she wrote about her beloved daughter's valiant struggle to live. "Im writting this post sitting in Vancouver children's hospital while my daughter fights for her life.. Today started as any other. now, however, my 12 year old daughter is fighting for her life while they try to repair the damage from a gun shot wound to the head. And one to the neck..

She was a lucky one, I suppose. Condolences to the other families during this tragedy.

This doesnt even feel real.

I never thought I would be asking for prayers.. but please please, pray for my baby."

As of Thursday, March 26, $508,087 had been raised to help Maya.

Maya's Mom Updated the Information About Her Condition

There is some guardedly hopeful news about the child's medical condition. On Wednesday, March 25, Cia Edmonds noted that Maya Gebala might be able to be moved out of the ICU. She also mentioned Dana White's offer to pay for her treatment at a children's hospital with "an extensive brain trauma clinic." If and when Maya is medically stable enough, she can hopefully be transported there soon.

Mom Cia Edmonds emotionally added, "It feels as thought [though] the air got lighter, and maya has some light in her eyes...hope just got a little more brighter..."
