Carrie Underwood Dishes About Being Mom to Two Young Boys and Keeping Home Normal

Carrie Underwood has many high-profile incarnations. She is a singer, recording artist, performer, and American Idol judge. All those roles take time and energy to fulfill. Behind the scenes, however, she is also a devoted wife to husband Mike Fisher, whom she wed in 2010, and mom to her two beloved young boys.

On The View on Tuesday, March 24, Underwood and her Idol colleagues, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie, chatted about the show's ongoing season. The "Before He Cheats" singer revealed that she maintains a strict boundary between her onstage life and her domestic and maternal one. Underwood also wants her children to regard her as their mom first, rather than as a world-famous artist.

Underwood Keeps Home Separate From Her Work

She said, "Being on stage and being at home, those are two different people pretty much. And I love that because they'll [her sons] come to shows and they'll see me do what I do. And I feel that they're proud, but then mom makes dinner."

Most of us are accustomed to seeing Underwood is glittering gowns and glamorously groomed, belting out one of her hit songs. However, she has a vastly different existence at home. She may get pretty grimy and grubby while taking care of the family's farm creatures. One thing Underwood, 43, stresses is keeping things normal for her kids.

She poignantly acknowledged, "I hope more than anything, that's what they take away from me. And that's what they remember about me. She was mom and then every once in a while she'd go and get on stage." It's mother first, superstar second when it comes to the boys whom she and Fisher share.

Do Either of Her Kids Seek a Future Career as a Singer?

Carrie Underwood won American Idol in 2005 at a young age. She learned the ropes - and the pitfalls - of stardom. Even with her immense talent and poise, it must have been hard to skyrocket to fame so fast. Knowing the rigors of the entertainment business, Underwood is guarding her older son from moving too quickly into the limelight. Isaiah likes singing but a fill-tilt pursuit of that passion can wait, she feels.

Underwood said, "He's mini me in so many ways. But I don't think I would. He would need to be older and more established in himself and before I would give my blessing on getting into it."
