We reported yesterday about an incident involving Ritchson and his neighbor. The actor was riding his green Kawasaki bike near his home in the quiet Nashville suburb of Brentwood with his children when a neighbor confronted him about the noise.
After the neighbor asked Ritchson to stop speeding down the street, the two began arguing. During the altercation, Ritchson allegedly hit his neighbor at least four times, including some blows while the neighbor was on the ground.
The victim then reported the incident to the police, claiming that Ritchson punched him in the face and kicked him. According to the neighbor, after Ritchson fell off his bike, he got back up and then tried to run the neighbor off. The neighbor said he has bruises and swelling.
Authorities opened an investigation into the incident, and there has been an update. We have the details below.
No Charges Will Be Filed Against Alan Ritchson
TMZ reports that no one will be charged in the incident involving Ritchson and his neighbor.
"After reviewing available evidence, including video footage and witness statements, authorities determined that no criminal charges will be pursued. Mr. Ritchson's actions were found to be in self-defense," the Brentwood Police Department told the outlet. "Although a potential reckless endangerment charge was considered, Mr. Ritchson declined to pursue charges.
"With the agreement of the District Attorney's Office, the case is now closed, and no further action will be taken."
Ritchson's Body Cam Caught the Entire Incident
Ritchson wore a body camera during the incident. The footage shows the neighbor first attempting to block Ritchson in the middle of the street. He then got in the actor's face. That's when Ritchson laid down his bike and shoved the neighbor to the ground.
Ritchson attempts to leave the scene, but the neighbor pushes him off his bike. Ritchson then hits the neighbor in the face and head until the neighbor stops coming after him.
Given that the neighbor initiated contact, officers concluded that Ritchson's reaction was self-defense.
The star then posted a quote from Napoleon on Instagram about the altercation: "Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake."
