Well, it didn't take long for the competition to chime in. The casual restaurant Chili's responded to a social media post with its own dress code policy.

It read, "The only dress code at Chili's is that you have to be dressed."

What Is the Dress Code at Ruth's Chris Steak House?

The parent company of Ruth's Chris Steak House, Darden Restaurants, shared a list of appropriate attire for the posh chain.

For example, if you wear a hat inside one of its locations, you will be asked to take it off. If you insist on donning it, you will be asked to go to the lounge or bar area.

Other items on the list include "gym wear, pool attire, tank tops, clothes with offensive graphics or language, revealing outfits, and exposed undergarments."

How Did People Respond to Chili's Comment?

Users responded to Chili's remark, with one stating they would "rather go to Chili's." Many others shared their support for the laid-back approach of the establishment, known for its baby back ribs.

But many pointed out that Chili's is meant to have a laid-back vibe. Ruth's Chris is should feel high-end.

"Chili's is not fine dining," said another user.

Another added, "I should be able to go have a nice date night with a significant other in a classier steak house with a proper ambiance, and I should also be able to go hang with the boys with some delicious food and ice cold beer in a rowdier and more comfortable environment."

Likewise, another Darden Restaurants establishment, The Capital Grille, enforces a comparable policy, requesting that guests refrain from wearing "athletic shorts, uncovered sports bras, bra-style tops, excessively revealing outfits, exposed underwear, and clothing with offensive language or imagery."
