'American Idol' Winner Shares if She Received a Car After Kelly Clarkson Controversy

After Kelly Clarkson said she didn't receive a car after winning "American Idol," another winner shared if they received the motorized prize.

Kelly Clarkson says she didn't win the $1 million and a brand new car she was promised after winning American Idol in 2002.

"They were like, 'Oh, you win a million dollars,' or whatever," she explained. "No, you didn't. They lied. It was like a million dollars' worth of investment in you."

She added, "They said you get a car. And I needed it because my car was bashed in, and I couldn't afford the deductible. And then — no! I did not get a car."

This incident has led people to wonder whether other American Idol winners received what they were promised after winning the reality singing competition. Another winner recently shared whether she received what she was promised after winning her season.

Did Jordin Sparks Receive Her Car After Winning "American Idol"?

While appearing on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle on March 16, Jordin Sparks, who won Season 6 of American Idol, was asked if she received her four-wheeled prize.

"I got my car," she replied. She then went on to defend the show.

"Look, I wasn't a part of Season 1. But the first season of anything is a little crazy," she added. "I hope they give her one now. Send her a Ford."

Who Else Got Their Car?

After Clarkson ranted about her own lack of wheels, she went on to talk about how she saw Clay Aiken, the runner-up from American Idol Season 2, get a car.

"Clay Aiken, who didn't win the second season, got a car — and [so did] his mom!" she said. "I was like, 'What the f**k!' He's like, 'Yeah, they gave my mom one.' I was like, 'I'm gonna actually kick your a-- right now.'"

Earlier this month, we reported on how Season 4 winner Carrie Underwood still owns the blue Ford Mustang she won.

"And every once in a while, something will happen where I'll have my car getting serviced or whatever, and I'll get to drive that car," she said. "And it always makes me want to drive it more, because it was such a pivotal point in my life. That was the car that I was driving around when I first moved to Tennessee, and I'm very, very glad I still have that car."

So come on, American Idol, just give Clarkson her car already.
