Most kids use their Make-A-Wish to see their favorite celebrities or go on holiday halfway across the world. And rightfully so! They've been through some terrible stuff, they deserve it. But some kids decide to use their wish to help others.
One such kid is 14-year-old Jude Baker from Georgia, who used his gift to help his community. As reported by People, Baker was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma at the age of 12. It's an aggressive form of cancer that affects the bones and their surrounding tissue.
Baker recalled the pain of chemotherapy in an interview, saying that the pain was worse than the fear of death. But, because of the chemo, he was eligible for a gift from Make-A-Wish. And he didn't go the usual route.
Emily Campbell, a gift coordinator for Make-A-Wish in Georgia, expressed her surprise at Baker's wish. "That's not a wish we even tell kids is an option. Usually we tell them you can wish to go somewhere, to be someone or to meet someone. Jude came up with this [wish] on his own. He never had a backup wish", she explained.

He Explained Why He Used His Make-A-Wish To Help His Community
Baker explained why he used his wish to help his local community. "I got out of my version of heck, and I want to help others who are in a similar situation, their own version... I wanted to help them out because I was in a bad situation and they were too."
His wish? To help homeless people in his Georgia community. "His only wish was to give back to his community", she added. And give back to his community, he did. Make-A-Wish prepared hot meals for homeless people in the area for one day. They also prepped sleeping bags and packed backpacks full of supplies for them.
In a great turn of events, Baker is now in remission. He said that he hopes his wish helped others to remember that there are always opportunities to help those that are in need.
What an amazing kid! We hope his selfless actions have helped lots of people.
