Samson Reyes has tragically passed away following an accident at a Texas high school. The 17-year-old was helping some other students move a large pole to the track area of the school. Unfortunately, an accident occurred that led to Samson suffering fatal injuries.

Multiple members of staff were present at the time of the accident. No other injuries have been reported. According to People, authorities have noted that they "do not anticipate filing any criminal charges in connection with the teen's death."
"The district is closed today as we mourn this loss," Justin Del Bosque, the superintendent for the school district, told KHOU. "Counseling services are available and are being offered to provide grief support to students and staff. Our thoughts are with the family and our school community during this difficult time."
No details regarding the accident or what led to the events occurring have been released. The investigation is reportedly still ongoing.
"Samson was an emerging leader on the Rocksprings High School's varsity football team," The New York Post reported. "He made the team his sophomore year and played offensive guard and defensive end. He shifted to play center in the 2025 season."
Outside of football, Samson also competed in both the shot put and the discus throw on the school's varsity track and field team this year.
Rocksprings Volunteer Fire Department Issues Statement on Samson Reyes' Death
Upon the news of Samson's death becoming public, the Rocksprings Volunteer Fire Department released a
statement on Facebook."Our department would like to express our deepest sympathies and condolences to the Reyes & Venegas families, to the Rocksprings ISD and to our community," the statement reads. "The loss of a young man whose life was just beginning to soar is heartbreaking. Our hearts are very heavy."
The statement continues by noting how those who attended the scene will carry Samson's loss with them moving forward.
"The things our first responders see are memories that they can never erase and each call is always remembered but this one is one that our first responders will always carry close to their hearts as they gave all they could but God was in charge and His plan was His plan and greater than our own understanding."
There are currently no details regarding Samson's funeral. That information will undoubtedly remain private, for family and close friends.
