Their sorrowful post read as follows. "It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our Dad, Tommy DeCarlo, on Monday, March 9th, 2026. After being diagnosed with brain cancer last September, he fought with incredible strength and courage right up until the very end. During this difficult time, we kindly ask that friends and fans respect our family's privacy as we grieve and support one another.

Rest in peace, Dad.

With love,

Annie, Talia & Tommy Jr."

There Was a GoFundMe Established for DeCarlo

On December 10, 2025, DeCarlo's son, Tommy Jr. set up a GoFundMe for his dad. The goal was $50,000. Even more - $56,903 - was raised.

The accompanying essay stated that "In late September, Dad suffered a sudden brain bleed and underwent an emergency craniotomy. During surgery, doctors discovered two melanoma masses on his brain and another spot on his lungs." He had another brain bleed before the end of 2025. DeCarlo gave his fight against the disease his utmost effort until the absolute last.

Fans Are Mourning the Rocker's Passing

Many took to social media to share their thoughts and grief about the loss of Tommy DeCarlo. The man and his music are in people's hearts today.

Wrote one, "Dang, that's so wild that he died on the same month and day (3/9) as Bradley Delp. [Delp, Boston's lead singer and frontman, tragically took his own life 19 years to the day before DeCarlo's death. He died on March 9, 2007. DeCarlo stepped in and assumed Delp's position with Boston in 2007.] I wish nothing but peace for your family."

Another commenter expressed this sentiment. "Such devastating news. It can't be overstated how much Tommy has meant to us Boston fans in helping to keep their music alive. I'll cherish the memories of seeing Tommy perform, first at the Brad Delp benefit, and then several times as Boston's lead singer. Peace and love to all his family and friends."

Someone else offered a touching personal memory of DeCarlo. "I had the fortune of randomly showing up at The Coach House in San Juan Cap about a year and a half ago - only to find that Tommy was the headliner.....It was one of the greatest concerts I ever attended. And then to top it off, he was so nice to take a pic with me....Was always hoping to see his show again. Really saddened by his passing. My thoughts are with your family."
