'Stand By Me' Star Reportedly Left Out of Rob Reiner Oscars Tribute

Director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, were slain in their home last December. That shook Hollywood and the entire entertainment community. He played outspoken liberal Mike "Meathead" Stivic on the groundbreaking '70s sitcom All in the Family. That iconic role made him beloved by millions. The respect Reiner got was amplified during his outstanding directorial career.

One of the classic movies he helmed was Stand By Me. When a tribute to Rob Reiner takes place at the 98th Academy Awards on Sunday, March 15, though, one star of that film won't be included. Actor Corey Feldman is reportedly "devastated" by his omission, according to the Daily Mail.

Four Actors Will Reportedly Take the Oscars Stage To Honor Reiner

Per the outlet, a source says Wil Wheaton and Jerry O'Connell (Stand By Me), plus Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan (When Harry Met Sally), are paying tribute to Rob Reiner at the gala event. But Corey Feldman reportedly won't be taking part.

The source confided, "They are looking to have Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal on stage and also have Jerry O'Connell and Wil Wheaton from Stand By Me to be a part of the tribute. One person currently left off is Corey Feldman, and Corey is devastated that he hasn't been asked to be a part of the tribute. He loved Rob and expected to be asked, especially since Jerry and Wil were asked."

Wheaton, Feldman, and O'Connell are marking the movie's 40th anniversary. That makes it even odder that Feldman did not get asked to the Reiner tribute.

The Academy Isn't Offering Feldman an Explanation for His Exclusion or an Invite

The insider has shared this. There is behind-the-scenes advocating for Corey Feldman. "Jerry and Wil feel bad for their buddy and have tried to reason with the Academy that Stand By Me was an ensemble and Corey should be a part of the tribute, but that currently doesn't seem to be the case for organizers and they are looking to snub him out."

What might yet happen between now and the Oscars regarding this controversy? It is anyone's guess.
