"Pretty messed up but I'm good. Crash bars are awesome. 3 nights in the hospital. 11 breaks in my rib cage," Corey shared in a now-deleted post on Instagram.

Corey also sustained a concussion and internal bleeding. The accident took place in Tulum, Mexico, several days before Rick married Angie Polushkin on Jan. 26. After the accident, Corey was rushed to a hospital in Playa del Carmen.

He stayed there for two weeks, but left against medical advice because "the financial pressure became too much." Now, friends of Corey are asking fans for help with his treatment.

Corey Harrison Was in a Tremendous Amount of Pain

Corey's friend Aron Chambers has set up a GoFundMe page to help the reality star recover from his accident. Chambers explained that after Corey left the hospital in Playa del Carmen and returned home to Tulum. Several days later, he called a doctor because he "was in excruciating pain."

"Corey was incredibly hesitant to take heavy pain meds, especially after losing his brother Adam to an overdose just last year, but the agony left him with no other option," Chambers wrote. Adam died from a fentanyl overdose in January 2024.

Several days later, Corey's "oxygen levels plummeted to dangerously low levels."

"In a heartbreaking moment that shook all of us to our core, Corey looked at us and said, 'I'm just going to die out here. I don't have the money to keep paying these people,'" Chambers shared.

This Member of the "Pawn Stars" Cast Needs Help

Corey was taken to a more affordable facility in the tourist town of Mérida. There, he learned that one of his ribs "completely separated and was pressing into his lung."

Corey had to have nearly three liters of blood drained from his chest cavity. He also underwent three surgeries that saved his life.

The former member of the Pawn Stars cast was hospitalized for 18 days. When he was discharged, he had medical bills that totaled over $100,000. Corey emptied his bank account and maxed out his credit cards to pay them.

"Being on television and part of Pawn Stars fame doesn't come with a built-in safety net for emergencies like this — medical crises don't care about celebrity status," Chambers wrote.

Corey is no longer on Pawn Stars, but he still receives some residual checks from reruns. Rick told TMZ that he "is a grown man and he will deal with his life as he sees fit."

The GoFundMe set up for Corey will help fund further treatment in the United States and get back on his feet. At the time of this writing, it has raised nearly 30% of its $18,000 goal.
