According to TMZ Sports, which reportedly obtained a police report about this matter, Nkemdiche, 31, was allegedly caught with groceries hidden in his clothing when he left a Kroger's supermarket in Georgia days ago. He was apparently seen with large objects appearing to be grocery items secreted inside his trousers.
Nkemdiche left the store and went to a gas station. The officer who saw him and became suspicious requested backup. Per the outlet, he was handcuffed. The items he was supposedly concealing in his pants were not there. However, a check of the parking lots of the gas station and Kroger's turned up discarded food like almond milk and candy bars.
How the Situation Involving Nkemdiche Unfolded
Per the outlet, Kroger's declined to press charges against the former NFL player for allegedly pocketing the items. However, the store "did want Nkemdiche criminally trespassed from the establishment." But the story does not end there.
Police checked out his background. They discovered warrants on him in several states, Georgia among them. Nkemdiche was then placed in jail.
It Wasn't His First Run-in With the Law
Nkemdiche jumped from a hotel window eleven years ago allegedly to avoid being caught with marijuana. He was nabbed anyway for drug possession.
According to the Marietta Daily Journal, in 2025, Nkemdiche "was arrested for disorderly conduct at a Kennesaw [Georgia] bowling alley and driving under the influence, according to Cobb County police." He faced five misdemeanors at the time, among them driving with no insurance and with a suspended license.
Per Newsbreak, Nkemdiche was also arrested in 2025 for allegedly shoplifting a bottle of wine from a gas syation.
Robert Nkemdiche has apparently spiraled from the pinnacle of football excellence. Personal challenges sadly derailed his career. What comes next for him is uncertain.
