A popular BBQ sauce is being recalled nationwide after several of its varieties were mislabeled.

As reported by PEOPLE, Savannah Bee Company announced on Friday, Feb. 27, that bottles of its 16 fl. ounce Honey BBQ Sauce-Mustard are being recalled. The reason is due to undeclared wheat and soy, per the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's website.
What Prompted the BBQ Sauce Recall?
The company initiated the recall after a customer noticed that its "Honey BBQ Sauce - Sweet," a dark brown, sweetened barbecue sauce, was mislabeled as "Honey BBQ Sauce-Mustard."
Photos of the product show that the correct Honey BBQ Sauce-Mustard should be light yellow. However, the mislabeled sauce is dark brown, indicating it is the Honey BBQ Sauce - Sweet variety.
Savannah Bee Company then investigated the issue. It discovered that the mislabeled products did not include the allergens wheat and soy on its ingredient labels. These ingredients are included in the recipe for the Honey BBQ Sauce-Sweet.
The FDA has shared that those who have a wheat or soy allergy or a sensitivity to those ingredients could have a "serious or life-threatening allergic reaction" if they consume the mislabeled BBQ sauce.
How Do I Know if I Have a Mislabeled Bottle?
The affected BBQ sauce was packaged in clear glass bottles. It has an orange Honey BBQ Sauce Mustard Label with the lot number "B1L1360525" and a best before date of "05/16/27."
The affected bottles were shipped nationwide to distribution centers, retail stores, and consumers between July 30, 2025, and Feb. 26, 2026.
Savannah Bee Company has stated that any bottles of Honey BBQ Sauce-Mustard with the above lot code and best-by date should be "disposed of immediately" as they could contain the wrong sauce. The announcement also says that customers can request a full refund after disposing of the mislabeled sauce.
Additionally, the company said that as of Feb. 27, no illnesses have been reported. Customers with questions may contact its customer service line at 800-955-5080, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. EST.
This news comes around the same time as a recall was issued for white tubs of Great Value brand cottage cheese with white lids sold at Walmart stores. As of yesterday, no illness caused by consuming the affected cottage cheese has been reported.
