Koe Wetzel Reveals Story Behind Arrest that Led to Popular Song: "I Woke Up in Jail"

Koe Wetzel has revealed the story behind the arrest that led to the release of his popular song "February 28th, 2016".

Koe Wetzel's hit song "February 28, 2016" tells of his arrest for public intoxication on that fateful day. It lead to a few days in jail, and an iconic mugshot. However, he has been cryptic about the finer details of what happened.

This all changed when revealed the story behind his hit song "February 28, 2016" on his Instagram page titled "The Real Story of February 28th".

He explained that the night of the arrest, he was at a friend's house party. "I went to my buddy's house one Friday night, and we drank all night long. I didn't have a lot of money, but I had a bottle of White Wolf vodka."

Koe Wetzel didn't exactly remember the night himself, but his friend did. He said, "My buddy, he's not with us anymore... but he told me after I got out of jail. He was like 'Yeah, you left, and then you came back... then you kept talking about Taco Bell.'"

This explains the iconic lines in the outro of the song. "I need a taco, I'm drunk for some tacos / Will somebody take me to Taco Bell?".

After apparently leaving to get some Taco Bell, a cop caught him in a strange situation. "I was laying face down in the middle of a soccer field. The cop said he thought I was dead... so I got arrested".

Koe Wetzel Reflected on the Success of His Hit Song

Koe Wetzel said the song's success surprised him: "February 28, 2016, kind of helped me get to where I am today."

And now, 10 years later, he is no longer drinking White Wolf vodka and pining over Taco Bell. Rather, he is performing in sold-out venues across America, and living his best life.

Just last year in May, he cancelled a weekend of concerts. He was set to open for HARDY on his Jim Bob tour. But, rather than it being for a worrying reason, he was celebrating the birth of his daughter, Woods Madison Wetzel.

He revealed the joyous news in an Instagram post with a picture of them together. He stated "The most beautiful sight these eyes have ever seen. The world is yours Woods Madison Wetzel."

We are very glad that he now has the time to both sell out shows and care for his daughter. Although the story behind the song is great, we're happy he isn't living that lifestyle any more!
