"Better Call Saul" Actor Now Works as a Amazon Delivery Driver: "It Sucks"

Despite being showered with critical acclaim and 53 nominations, Better Call Saul was never awarded an Emmy. Despite his best efforts, John Christian Love hasn't been able to keep the acting gigs going. The 35-year-old actor is now working as a delivery driver for Amazon.

What Happened to This "Better Call Saul" Star?

Love shared his career update last month in a subreddit for Amazon drivers. It features a selfie of him in a blue-and-grey vest, inside a truck with packages ready to be delivered.

"Hey it's me John Christian Love," he wrote in a post titled "Delivering Smiles & Autographs." "Just want yall to know that as the actor who brought you the character 'Ernesto/Ernie' in Better Call Saul, that I too am out here delivering with you!"

He added that he isn't thrilled with the job title.

"It sucks," he said. "But 1 delivery at a time. Be blessed out there!"

When asked if his role as Ernesto was "not enough to continue acting," Love shared that he hasn't "given up on it."

"Just really slow right now," he wrote. "And BCS wasn't the breakout I was hoping. Did a significant film working opposite Lily Gladstone / Bryan Cranston but film ran out of money and I was never paid..."

Success Isn't Linear

As he indicated earlier, Love isn't happy about working for large online retailer. He gave a brief overview of the job conditions.

He wrote, "I was a mail carrier, FedEx driver, UPS seasonal driver, and all of them were better — all of them sucked, don't get me wrong, but were better than Amazon — route changes everyday, vans are crap, no culture, no real benefits, high turnover, etc."

But it sounds like this could be a temporary gig.

"I'm tired of waiting for permission, so going to start doing my own projects, but got to do something other than this because it really is killing me," he said.

He later added, "But my hope is that everyone will do what they love doing, and not let anyone reduce them to a 9-5 slave."

Love has also starred in the Tina Fey film Whiskey Tango Foxtrot and Independence Day: Resurgence. He also appeared on the critically acclaimed series Friday Night Lights for 13 episodes.
