Country Star Admits To Faking Her Own Engagement

Harper Grace recently faked an engagement online in a creative way to promote her upcoming song, 'If Daddy Says No.'

Harper Grace hoodwinked her fanbase. The country music singer got creative in promoting her upcoming work, "If Daddy Says No." Rather than the tried-and-tired practices of sharing snippets of the song online or taking small ads on the radio, Harper decided to pull a ruse.

The 24-year-old made a shock announcement on her Instagram page, informing her 45,000 followers that she was engaged. She then spent multiple weeks posting about her new love, all while keeping her "soon-to-be husband" out of the limelight.

Turns out, there was no engagement. Instead, it was all a ploy to drive more interest to her upcoming song.

"I think some people are probably going to think I'm crazy for faking my own engagement," Harper told Country Now. "But honestly, I got so into just the artistic take on it because the song means so much to me. I wanted to put myself in the position of how I thought it could have played out if I went that route."

Art is subjective. So, who are we to judge the direction Harper's creative spark decided to take her?

"With this song in particular, I was like, I want to play into this creative, vulnerable, artistic side as much as I possibly can, and what better way than to fake my engagement? So that's what I did," she continued.

Harper Grace's New Song Is Based on a Previous Relationship

The best songs always draw from real-life experiences, and that's exactly what Harper did with "If Daddy Says No."

When speaking with Country Now, Harper explained how a previous relationship of hers left her torn between a love interest and the approval of her father.

"I've always been really close with my dad, and this certain relationship just did not honor me, and it really didn't honor my dad. They had zero respect for my father and his upbringing with me and him, literally just let alone being my dad. He was a wonderful dad, and this guy just was so disrespectful, and I was caught up in all of it. Luckily, I'm so grateful that my dad really did say no."

Well, I'm guessing the fake boyfriend in her recent Instagram posts did get the approval of Harper's father. Otherwise, why would she have risked his wrath by posting about it?
