What Took Place

According to the outlet, the incident took place on February 1. It happened after a basketball game at a Catholic elementary school, the Holy Child School at Rosemont. The players were in the Malvern Basketball League which is not associated with Holy Child. The youngsters involved in the contest were 7 and 8 years old.

An assistant coach of one team, Ortiz, 38, "allegedly began shouting and cursing" while the match-up was in progress. Ortiz's dad, William Stanley, 70, started jawing with the other squad's coach.

The Rumpus Continued and Allegedly Became Physical

The game ended but the heated actions of dad and daughter allegedly did not. Ortiz supposedly continued to act confrontationally towards the coach and his wife. Then, per the outlet, she pulled the wife's hair hard, which caused her to fall down. A criminal complaint referenced by the outlet reportedly states that the wife hit her head on the gym's floor.

The other team's coach allegedly intervened to try to halt the out-of-control disturbance. William Stanley then allegedly whacked him in the head. Ortiz allegedly kicked the coach in the thigh. He was supposedly holding his daughter at the time, who is three years old. She reportedly became "hysterical" and sustained a leg bruise.

Both the coach and his wife were allegedly injured in the fracas with Brittany Ortiz and William Stanley, per the complaint cited by the outlet.

The Aftermath of the Basketball Brouhaha

Brittany Ortiz is facing a number of charges. They include disorderly conduct, harassment, assault on a sports official, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person. "She was ordered held on $10,000 bail," per the Post.

As for her father, police requested charges against William Stanley. He "surrendered himself to police."

William Stanley's Attorney Made a Statement

Nathan Schadler, the attorney who represents William Stanley, also shared this with the Post. "My client was taken to the hospital with broken bones and injury to the head. We will be doing our own investigation an speaking to people who were there. My client asserts his innocence, and it was my client's family who called 911 and asked the police to show up in this matter."
