Robert Cosby Jr. has sadly passed away at the age of 23. Robert is the son of Mary Cosby, star of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Robert's cause of death has not been released.

However, according to TMZ, "police responded to a possible overdose, and it turned into a death investigation upon arrival."
"Police in Salt Lake City tell us they responded Monday night to a call for a "full arrest/medical emergency" for a 23-year-old male. We're told fire and paramedics were dispatched," TMZ continued.
Robert's passing comes just months after his wife, Alexiana Smokoff, filed for divorce. Interestingly, The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City featured Robert's and Alexiana's drug issues as a storyline in season 4 of the show. Robert had intermittently been present on the show in recent years.
Mary and Robert Sr. have since released a statement on the loss of their son.
"Our beloved son Robert Jr. has been called home to the Lord," they told TMZ. "Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in God's promise and in knowing he is finally at peace. We are grateful for your prayers and trust in the Lord to carry us through this time of sorrow."
Mary Cosby Previously Spoke on Robert Jr's Substance Issues
In September 2025, Mary Cosby appeared on Sirius XM Radio, where she discussed Robert Jr's battle with substance abuse.
"He's doing as good as he can," Mary said. "Okay. I, it's his journey. I told him. If you don't make up your mind, then this is all for nothing. And it just takes a made-up mind to do and execute whatever you are trying to do. But you can't do it if your mind's not made up. And I can't make it up for him. I can only push him, encourage him, and love him. And that's what I'm doing. And that's kind of where we are. But he's still on that road. It's a hardcore road."
Currently, there's no information on when or where Robert Jr's funeral will take place. That information will likely remain with family and close friends.
