In a heart-breaking video on Instagram, TODAY co-host Savannah Guthrie announced on February 24 that her family is offering a reward for information about their mom Nancy's disappearance of up to $1 million. She also talked about the anguish of not knowing the beloved 84-year-old's whereabouts or fate, publicly acknowledging for the first time that she may not still be alive.

Guthrie quietly observed, "We also know that she may be lost; she may already be gone. She may already have gone home to the Lord that she loves, and is dancing in heaven with her mom and her dad and her beloved brother, Pierce, and with our daddy. And if this is what is to be, then we will all accept it."
Savannah Guthrie Thanks Those Praying for Her Mom
Looking weary and emotional, Savannah Guthrie described the "agony" of not knowing where her mother has been or what her condition is for the 24 days since her apparent abduction from her Tucson home. She also warmly thanked all those who have prayed for her and the Guthrie family.
She shared, "So many people have been praying, of every faith and no faith at all; praying for her return. And we feel those prayers. Please keep praying without ceasing...We still believe in a miracle...Hope against hope, as my sister says. We are blowing on the embers of hope."
The Family Is Donating to NCMEC
Furthermore, she said the Guthries are donating $500,000 to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). They clearly recognize that other families also are going through a crisis because their young loved ones have vanished.
She explained, "We also know that we are not alone in our loss. We know there are millions of families that have suffered with this kind of uncertainty. We are hoping that the attention that has been given to our mom and our family will extend to all the families like ours who are in need and need prayers and need support."
She Admitted Grimly That Her Precious Mom May Now Be Deceased
As excruciating and terrible as it may be to contemplate, Guthrie realizes that her mother may no longer be living. She sadly stated in the video's conclusion, "Help us bring our beloved mom home so that we can either celebrate a glorious, miraculous homecoming or celebrate the beautiful, brave, courageous and noble life that she has lived. Please be the light in the dark."
