Local news outlet WLWT obtained a video of the appearance, showing Caleb's lawyer putting forward a 'not guilty' plea. Caleb can also be heard addressing the judging, stressing that he's not a risk.

"Sir, I just want to take care of my daughters," Caleb says in the video. "I'm not a risk."

Caleb was originally booked into the county jail for murder, felonious assault and tampering with evidence, on Feb. 19, per TMZ.

"Authorities say Caleb shot 37-year-old Ashley using a 9mm semiautomatic handgun and then staged the crime scene, leading officers astray," TMZ reported, adding further clarity to the tampering with evidence charge.

Ahead of Caleb's first appearance in court, his attorney, L. Patrick Mulligan, provided a statement on the speedy nature of his case.

"We are both disappointed and concerned about the short timeline and seeming rush to judgment in this case," Mulligan told PEOPLE. "When the government runs out of leads or can't develop leads and looks at a surviving spouse in cases such as these, the chance of a wrongful conviction increases."

Caleb Flynn Had an Audition for 'American Idol' Season 12

Caleb was first introduced to the public during season 12 of American Idol. And while he didn't make it past the audition stage, his interview remains available online. As you would expect, it has begun to gather some fresh traffic in recent days.

"My name is Caleb Flynn. I'm from Tip City, Ohio. I auditioned because, I'm sure everybody says it, but music is all I know. It's what I live to do, and I love to sing, so that's why I auditioned. Maybe my wife kind of nudged me a little bit, too," his interview began. "...I love my wife more than anything. She is very, very pretty. I love her."

There are no further details regarding Caleb's court case at this time. Due to the severity of his charges, most information will not be privvy to the public. However, we will undoubtedly receive further updates as the case moves forward.
