Smith's attorney confirmed the news in a statement to People.

"This devastating accident was a profound tragedy for the family of Dot Dobbins and the larger Germantown community. Over the past several months, Conner has been grateful for the opportunity to get to know Dot's family personally and be able to voice his deep and sincere grief," Worrick G Robinson, Smith's attorney, said in a statement to PEOPLE. "While he is grateful that this legal chapter has concluded, he will continue to steadfastly lift her family up in prayer."

According to The Davidson County District Attorney's Office, when speaking with TMZ, the misdemeanor citation was "withdrawn at the request of Dobbins' family."

The crash in question occurred when Smith's pickup truck collided with Dobbins as she used a crosswalk in Nashville. The incident happened on June 8.

Smith has since reflected on the incident during an appearance on "The Upload With Brooke Taylor" podcast.

"Just in a moment, your entire ... like a tornado runs through your house, and there's so much grief and there's so much trauma from that intense, intense trauma," Smith said. "There's a darkness in that, you just can't — there's no words, right? It felt like a tornado just blowing through my house."

Conner Smith Previously Issued a Statement on the Crash

Just over four weeks after the crash, Smith released a statement regarding the incident while also speaking of the grief he felt.

"Four weeks ago, I was involved in a tragic vehicle accident that resulted in the loss of a life. Not a day has gone by that I haven't grieved, prayed, and mourned for Ms. Dobbins and her family," Smith wrote in the statement. "My heart is broken in a way I've never experienced, and I still struggle to fully process the weight of it all. I ask that you continue to lift the Dobbins family up in prayer by name, asking for God's peace to surround them each day."

Smith then went on to note that he was taking time away from making and performing music due to the incident.

"I have always found that making music and playing shows is a place of healing for me - but for this moment, it was important for me to take time away."

Now that the citation has been dropped, Smith will likely continue pushing forward with his music career. Although, it could take a long time for him to put such a traumatic oredeal behind him.
