But the singer-songwriter's wife, Betty, shared that his family was recently confronted with another tragedy. We have the details below.

The Wife of Raul Malo Shares Some Devastating News

Betty shared some adorable pictures of her family's bulldog on social media. Unfortunately, they were accompanied by the following caption:

"RIP Clementine .... It's time to go be with your daddy who loved you so much. We're gonna miss you croquetica."

Losing a pet can be just as devastating as the loss of a loved one, and fans were quick to offer their condolences to Malo's wife.

"Oh, no!" one fan wrote. "Back in Raul's arms!"

"I'm so sorry," another user wrote. "The only comfort is knowing she is with her Dad in heaven.

"I'm so very sorry to read this, she was a beautiful little girl," added another. "I'm happy I was able to play with her for a little while some years ago."

"My deepest condolences on the passing of your sweet Clementine," shared one user. "She's traveling with her Daddy again. Blessing and love for you all."

Malo's Legacy Lives On

Malo died on Dec. 8, 2025, at the age of 60. While he co-wrote many of The Mavericks' most popular songs, the Miami-born singer also had an enviable solo career.

"Anyone with the pleasure of being in Raul's orbit knew that he was a force of human nature, with an infectious energy," read a statement from The Mavericks regarding his death. "Over a career of more than three decades entertaining millions around the globe, his towering creative contributions and unrivaled, generational talent created the kind of multicultural American music reaching far beyond America itself."

"Though his earthly body may have passed, Raul's spirit will live on forever in heaven, and here on earth through the music, joy, and light he brought forth," it added. "His contributions to American and Latin music will be everlasting, as his songs and voice touched fans and fellow artists around the world."
