As we reported last week, the "Head Over Boots" singer has been battling sepsis, which is a dangerous immune response to an infection. This latest health scare led McHugh to cancel a show.
But just a couple of days ago, McHugh shared another update with fans. We have the details below.
Lisa McHugh Says It's "Been a Tough Week"
Fans have been praying for McHugh's swift recovery for the last few days. Judging from the singer's latest update, it seems like their work has paid off.
"My body is finally responding well to the treatment — infection markers are coming down each day and I'm really hoping to be home soon," she wrote on Facebook.
She added, "It's been a tough week health-wise, but the hardest part of all has been the guilt. This is at least the 6th time in the last 18 months I've had to suddenly disappear for days, sometimes weeks, without being able to explain anything to Milo. That part breaks my heart more than anything."
She also asked fans to keep her "little babies" in their prayers.
She concluded, "Thank you for all the love, messages and support as always — it truly means so much."
McHugh Also Had Several Health Scares Last Year
Last July, the Grand Ole Opry veteran was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). It can include symptoms like paralysis or weakness in the limbs, sustained muscle contractions, and mobility issues.
She explained that it "affects the way the brain and the nervous system work, leading to a range of neurological symptoms such as limb weakness, paralysis, seizures, walking difficulties, spasms, sensory issues, cognitive problems and more."
McHugh was also diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia, a chronic condition that causes severe facial pain. The symptoms include agonizing attacks that can repeat throughout the day and intensify over time.
The singer said a buildup of stress may be the reason for that diagnosis.
She explained, "My body has now decided to make me physically stop, process and heal from everything properly."
