The past few years hasn't been easy for Mark Chesnutt. The country icon has had his share of ups and downs, healthwise. Recently, Chesnutt was playing at the Oxford Performing Arts Center in Oxford, Alabama on February 12.

However, the country icon cut the concert early "due to sudden illness, the artist was unable to complete tonight's performance."

The venue wrote about the sudden development, "Due to sudden illness, the artist was unable to complete tonight's performance. We are hopeful to reschedule the concert and share a new date soon. All current ticket holders will be contacted with additional details. Those who are unable to attend the rescheduled performance will have the option to receive a full refund."

Country Icon Has Battled Health Problems

They continued, "We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding. Situations like this are extremely rare at the Oxford Performing Arts Center, and we are grateful for the kindness shown by our patrons this evening. More information will be sent directly to ticket holders soon. Thank you!"

Attendees were shocked by the abrupt end to the concert. "We all thought he was kidding at first, even his band was shocked," one Facebook user wrote.

Additionally, the country icon postponed a concert on February 13 in Georgia and one on February 14 in North Carolina. It appears Chesnutt has been battling a sinus infection. "Mark has been fighting off a sinus infection. It was affecting his voice and he wasn't able to continue the show," the publicist says. "He should be good to go soon."

The cancellation comes less than a year after the artist was hospitalized for "low sodium count and extreme high blood pressure." At the time, he had been set to headline the One Portales Wine, Beer and Music Festival.

But Chesnutt's health should come first. In 2024, the country icon underwent emergency quadruple bypass surgery.

"It is with a heavy heart that I announce the cancellation of my upcoming shows," he said at the time. "I send my love and gratitude to my family and friends, the band and fans for your understanding, prayers and support, and look forward to seeing you all again soon at a honky tonk near you."

Here's hoping he feels better soon.
