Assisi has since released a tribute for Key, with whom she had two children.
"It is with the deepest of sadness and love in our hearts that we share the passing of Alex Key on 31st January 2026," Assisi wrote. "For all of us who had the privilege of working with him, Alex was far more than a chef. He was a unique man who wasn't afraid to take risks and never stopped laughing."
Assisi's tribute continued by telling the world how loving and fun Key was to be around.
"His presence at the Rocket Store shaped so many lives and brought fun and rhythm to every service. He was endlessly inspired by different cultures and cuisines, combining fresh Cornish produce with different flavours from his travels. The Rocket Store was the perfect map of his life through food."
Key, 37, had been in a long-term relationship with Assisi. He ran a seafood restaurant and was the co-owner of the establishment alongside Freddie Woodruff.
