Son of Country Music Songwriter Wows Judges on ‘American Idol’

Christian Brown, son of Kentucky Music Hall of Famer, Marty Brown, wowed the American Idol judges in a recent episode.

The latest season of American Idol is still in its infancy, but it's already serving up some hot new talent. Christian Brown is the latest contestant to wow the judges and, in turn, the fans at home. However, unlike most of the contestants, Brown has some experience with music history.

You see, Brown's dad is none other than Kentucky Music Hall of Famer, Marty Brown. Just in case you need a little refresher, he is the songwriter behind Tracy Byrd's hit "I'm From The Country."

However, this isn't a case of nepotism. Christian is genuinely talented. He's humble, too. Before wowing the judges with his musical skills, he explained that he's currently working as a delivery driver in Franklin, KY. Of course, being humble doesn't stop you from being smart, so Christian made sure to remind the judges who his dad is.

"He put out three records in the '90s," he said. "He's played on the Grand Ole Opry stage. He's a member of the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame. He is all in all just a great songwriter, great singer, and a great dad."

Marty was with Christian for the audition, leading Luke Bryan to declare, "I know this guy right here."

Christian Brown Wowed the American Idol Judges With a Rendition of His Dad's Song

When it came time for Christian to put his skills on display, he revealed that he would be performing a rendition of Marty's song, "Wildest Dreams."

"It's a song about how much you love somebody," Christian said of his song choice. "I'm going to be singing for my dad. It's my way of telling him I love him too. I would not be where I am today without him."

Rather than simply trying to mimic his pops, Christian put his own husky spin on the song, captivating the judges, his dad and most likely the viewers at home. He proved that he's deserving of a spot in the next round, while also bringing his dad close to tears.

"It's got to make you proud to watch your boy do that, right?" Bryan said. To which Marty replied, "Yes, it really does."

All in all, just another wholesome moment from one of America's favorite reality TV shows.
