Don Henley Says 2026 Will Likely Be Eagles’ Last Year: “I Feel Like We’re Getting Toward the End”

During a recent interview with 'CBS Sunday Morning', Don Henley, a founding member of Eagles, admitted 2026 might be the band's last year.

The Eagles are currently in the middle of a long run of shows at the Las Vegas Sphere. However, Don Henley, a founding member of the legendary rock band, believes 2026 will be the final hurrah for the group. In fairness, their current residency at The Sphere and their wide-ranging tour are titled The Long Goodbye.

Henley's comments came during a recent

"You know, I think this year will probably be it," Henley said. "I've said things like that before, but I feel like we're getting toward the end. And that will be fine, too."

Henley, 78, then went on to explain his reasoning, citing wanting to spend more time with family as a potential driving factor in his decision-making.

"I would like to spend more time with my family and I would like to spend more time growing vegetables," he said. "And, I'd like to travel all over the world. I haven't seen much of it because we see the airports, the hotel room, and the venue. We don't get out much. So, I'd like to go back to some of the same places I've been and see more of those places. You know, before it all disappears."

Don Henley Wants To Make the Most of His Life Outside of Music

The Eagles were formed in 1971. They're widely viewed as among the most successful bands of all time. The band has six Grammy Awards to its name and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. However, when you've been going strong for more than 50 years, there comes a time to call it quits.

After all, Henley, and most likely the rest of the band, will want to enjoy the rest of their years doing things outside of touring and playing shows.

"There are lots of things to do," Henley told CBS. "I mean, I don't ever want to have a one-dimensional life. This is great, this is wonderful, but there are other things. I have two non-profit environmental organizations that I chair... I have four kids and a grandchild. There are just lots of other things."

If 2026 really is the final year for the Eagles, they will surely make sure they go out with a bang. And, when they do pack up their set for the final time, they can look back on a historic career that helped shape the landscape of rock music for generations to come.
