Darron Lee has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder. The former New York Jets offensive linebacker has also been charged with tampering with evidence.

"On the afternoon of February 5, 2026, HCSO deputies were dispatched to a residence at the 7500 block of Snow Cone Way to a report of CPR in progress,"
Hamilton County Sheriff's Office wrote in a statement. "Upon arrival, first responders located a female victim and attempted life-saving measures; it was determined she was deceased."The statement then continued, explaining that the victim's death was the result of a homicide, naming Lee as the primary suspect.
"Due to the condition of the victim and the residence, HCSO Criminal Investigative Services Detectives responded," the statement continued. "Preliminary findings indicate the victim's death was the result of a homicide. The victim's boyfriend, Darron Lee, was identified as the suspect and taken into custody at the scene. Lee faces the following charges: First-Degree Murder, Tampering With Evidence."
No details regarding the victim have been released. When speaking with PEOPLE, a spokesperson for the sheriff's office noted they were unable to comment on the ongoing investigation.
"Additional charges could be pending following the outcome of the investigation," the statement noted. "...This information is preliminary and subject to change. No further details are available."
Who Is Darron Lee?
Darron Lee, 31, entered the NFL in 2016, having been drafted with the 20th overall pick by the New York Jets. He spent three seasons in the Big Apple, playing in a total of 40 games, securing 241 takings, 11 quarterback hits and 82 yards on three interceptions.
Lee then signed with the Kansas City Chiefs, spending one season with the franchise. He suited up for 16 games, starting 2. During his time with the Chiefs, Lee secured 31 tackles. He won a Super Bowl with the Chiefs in 2020. His last stop in the NFL came with the Buffalo Bills.
"A rep for Lee could not immediately be reached by PEOPLE. It is not immediately known if he has an attorney," People reported.
