Depending on how you feel about where you get your groceries, a trip to the supermarket can either be a delight or a chore.

Getting your weekly food haul shouldn't feel like a grind. That's why the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) gives shoppers a chance to vote for where they love to get their groceries.
By measuring customer satisfaction across the United States, ACSI lets companies know whether they are doing well with shoppers and helps them find ways to improve customer satisfaction.
In 2025, Florida-based Publix had the highest satisfaction rating. Did it hold on to its title in 2026? Find out below.
What Is America's Favorite Supermarket?
Over 30,000 Americans voted for their favorite supermarket. Last year, Publix scored an 84 and kept the same score this year. However, that wasn't enough for it to keep the title of America's Favorite Supermarket.
Trader Joe's went up two points to score an 86 to earn the top spot on the ACSI's list of favorite supermarkets.
Founded in California nearly 60 years ago, the store is known for its viral grocery bags and curated inventory. Customers usually come for a dozen eggs and leave with a pint of the store's private-label mochi ice cream and restaurant-quality frozen meals.
Another reason why shoppers love Trader Joe's? Its employees are actually nice. Donned in a Hawaiian shirt and a smile, they're there to point you in the right direction if you can't find something or help you discover your new favorite snack.
Maybe that's why in some parts of the country, the chain has to compete against itself by opening a new store across the street from another.
What Other Stores Made the List?
As we mentioned above, Publix went down a notch in 2026 to take second place. Third place went to the Texas-based supermarket H-E-B.
One up-and-comer, Aldi, took fifth place with a score of 81, part of a three-way tie between warehouse retailer Costco and Whole Foods. One point above them is Sam's Club.
Walmart, which also owns Sam's Club, scored a 75. But Wegman's fell from 83 points to 78, the steepest decline among the stores on the list.
