Felicia Sullivan shared a video of her ordeal. The incident happened in Waynesboro, Va. Sullivan's trip through the car wash started like any other. But midway through, she became stuck when the system shut down and the bay doors didn't open.
It didn't even finish cleaning the soap off her windshield.
"I am trapped in the Waynesboro Water Works," Sullivan said in the video. "I still have soap and everything all over this freaking car. All the doors are closed. Nothing has happened. It hasn't rinsed the soap off."
Car Wash Trapped
While in the wash, the lights to the system just went dark. Everything stopped, and she never got a prompt to exit. Despite hitting the emergency button, the door still wouldn't open for her to leave the device.
"The door is stuck shut," she said. "I'm pushing the emergency button. The door is not opening. I cannot get out."
She figured that someone would come and let her out. Sullivan tried calling the car wash number posted online several times. But she couldn't get anyone to answer. "I've been trapped in here for about 20 minutes now," she said in a later video. "Nobody's answering the phone. Nobody's calling me back."
Eventually, she became worried about carbon monoxide poisoning with all of the exhaust fumes from the car in the building. "This place is filling up with exhaust fumes," she said.
Sullivan was forced to call the Waynesboro Police Department to come rescue you her. Someone finally arrived at the car wash. "That's the owner of the place and the cop that saved my life," she said.
The two helped her through another cycle to rinse the dried soap off her car.
